Clair Pettibone Plus Size Couture - This is one of kind custom made.
I wanted our wedding to feel like something from a romantic Jane Austin novel. I could not find anything in a plus size which captured that feeling. I happened to meet Claire Pettibone at a trunk show. The gowns in her collection were so beautiful and romantic, I asked her to create my perfect plus size gown and she agreed.
Ours was a garden wedding and I didn’t want to fuss with wrinkles or grass stains, but I wanted something elegant. We began with the fabrics and basic styling of a gown from a past collection called “Queen Anne’s Lace”. My gown is floor length (It does not have a train; I am 5’5” and wore silver ballerina slippers) and was very easy to walk and dance in. It has a double cotton underskirt which keeps the gown looking crisp and there is no need to wear a slip. The overskirt is made of tulle and has a beautiful wide lace bottom. It has a empire waist which falls from the short sleeve lace top. The bust is lined so you can wear a regular nude bra if you didn’t want to wear a stapless and it had a round back. There is lace applique that buttons over the bottom of the opening in the back that can be easily removed depending upon the bra worn underneath.
This dress was so easy to wear and made me feel like princess. I hated to see it just hanging in the closet and hope that is will make another bride feel as special as I did.
